Who could have guessed that a 10:00 AM wine tasting in a room of foreigners and going halfsies on lunch with a wonderful stranger at Maria Antonieta could introduce me one of the most beautiful hotels in Mendoza? Not I, that is for sure!
The Vines of Mendoza, located about an hour and a half outside of the city of Mendoza, is surrounded by grape vines and snuggled up against the Andes mountains. Their hotel, The Vines Resort & Spa, combines the rustic comfort of Mendoza’s country with elegance and comfort. And, being the luck kid that I am, I get to call it my office on Fridays. After hitchhiking my way to the Valle de Uco, I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by a beautiful landscape and even lovelier people.
Siete Fuegos, the restaurant within The Vines Resort & Spa, is captained by legendary Argentina chef Francis Mallmann. (Sidebar: I actually knew about Siete Fuegos before I discovered The Vines because my father played golf with Mallmann’s nephew in our small town in Maine this past May. Hat tip Padre Newell for helping me discover new places!) Siete Fuegos uses seven different styles of cooking, all inspired and perfected by Mallmann, and offers cooking experiences for guests who are interested in learning how to cook like a pro.
The Villas are like nothing you have ever experienced. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a spacious living area, a massive fireplace, and impressive technology that make the villa modern and comfortable. The patio includes an outdoor fireplace, seat, and an impressive view of the mountains.
Needless to say, I love The Vines of Mendoza and can’t wait to see what other adventures are in store!
P.S. Dictionary.com includes halfsies, so stop hating.
