After a flight cancellation when Philadelphia got 12 to 16 inches, a 24 hour stomach bug and arriving at a new chapter, I was quickly thrown into formal recruitment at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Before my arrival in Ohio, the campus apparently had warned the women that if they were outside for more than five minutes, they would suffer frost bite. This obviously presented some problems, because the women going through recruitment had to walk quite a ways in between houses during recruitment.
I have never seen this happen before but all of the women, every single one of them, wore a pair of winter boots and handed them over to their recruitment counselors before putting on heels and heading inside to the recruitment event. My job at the beginning of each event was to bring all of the shoes inside so that they did not get filled with snow while the women were inside. What a silly job, who have thought we would need someone to do that?!
