Sunday, November 10th I spent the entire day exploring Louisville! That is, only after we accidentally drove into Indiana… again. Our first stop was the Louisville Slugger Museum. When we got there, I didn’t realize that you can take tour of the factory and see how bats are made from scratch – it’s pretty neat! At the end, each person on the tour is given a mini bat that they can take home with them!
The gallery just beyond the factory tour had statues of four different players: Ted Williams, Ken Griffey Jr, Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter. Naturally I had my own photoshoot with them where I recreated each of their poses – isn’t that what they’re there for? We also popped into the gift shop where they had commemorative Red Sox 2013 World Series bats!
Later that afternoon, we took a trip over to the University of Louisville and Churchill Downs. Grace and I arrived 20 minutes before Churchill Downs was closing so a nice woman let us into the museum for free! We played around in the gift shop when we heard that the museum was closing and tried on hats and headbands that started at a cool $100 – wow!
Afterwards, we went to the University of Louisville and explores the campus, including stopping by the Sigma Kappa chapter at U of L. After we ran all around the campus, we met up with my friend Liam (from Susquehanna) who is currently in law school at U of L! It was great to see a familiar face during my last week on the road!
