“Nowadays, Boogie man is a lot less frightening than a strong woman”
Last night a video started spiraling around my Facebook newsfeed. I usually don’t watch videos that people post but something drew me to this one. The video begins with four young women who are members of a slam poetry group called “D.C. Youth Slam Team” who discuss what they wanted to be for Halloween when they were children. They continue to examine how Halloween has become its own “kind of freak show.”
Although you may not be inspired to change the way you think or what your costume will be, that’s fine. Do you. I think this group of women are fantastic. They bring humor and fact together to deliver an enjoyable reality check.
